NSI is Indispensable
Professor Laurence Kotlikoff's 2014 calculations, endorsed by 500 economists including 15 Nobel Laureates, showed that unfunded (US) government liabilities were around 16 times larger than federal debt.
On January 27, 2024 Bing Chat extrapolated unfunded US government liabilities to around $500T. This is 100 times gross annual revenue (±$5T).
This means the US Government would be able to honor its liabilities if someone else paid all its bills for the next 100 years. This is rather unlikely.
According to Bing Chat 'the US has had zero federal budget surpluses since 2002'. Without a surplus, the only remaining way to keep honoring liabilities, is to keep borrowing more, until it is no longer possible.
Absent remediation or significant moderation, catastrophic default is guaranteed. The US is locked into a head-on collision course. Only Super-Intelligence is powerful enough to see the lock, remove the lock, change the trajectory, and create verdant outcomes instead.

The incumbent that takes on the project to remediate the $500T US 'sinkhole' can feasibly expect additional revenue of ±$0.5T per year (2% of US GDP).
